Ganesh Chaturthi

Vinayagar Chaturthi is the annual Hindu festival celebrating the birth of Lord Ganesha (Vinayagar). It falls on the fourth day (Chaturthi) of the waxing moon fortnight in the Tamil month Aavani (or Purattasi). Clay idols of Lord Ganesha are worshipped with elaborate rituals, special offerings like Modak (Kozhukattai), and are then immersed in a water body, symbolizing His return to Mount Kailash.
